Step 1: Begin by prepping the skin, moisturise and
prime. Using the Krylon Foundation pallet mix the correct skin colour for the
models tone and apply a thin layer all over the face, neck and ears. Don’t
bother concealing as when aging there isn’t much point.
Step 2: Whenever you age someone make sure you do it
all over their body for any parts of the skin that will be seen. Make the model
smile and frown and scrunch up there eyes this will then give a natural ageing
effect using (D15/D16) create lines and shading around the eyes, deepening the
sockets and thinning out the nose and cheek bones to create a gaunt look. Using
your finger will create a smother blend into the skin, making sure you blend
all makeup into the hairline.
Step 3: Highlight the areas to make the darker
sections sink into the face more, under the eye area, down the nose. For a
cracked lip effect scrunch up the lips and pat the highlighter colour over the
lip.
Step 4: Creaping
of the skin- ALWAYS test
latex products on the model before application testing on their arm 2 weeks in
advance of shoot, if allergic reaction exists it will be red and itchy
instantly run under warm water.
Stretch skin with fingers and stipple the latex onto the
area dry instantly with a hair dryer. layer up for a more intense effect- make
sure each layer is dry before application
of the next.
Step 5: Age the hair using either dry shampoo or a
silver hair spray. Starting from root to tip. Using the silver hair spray brush
this into the brows and lashes. in a backward and forward motion.
I really enjoyed this practical lesson learning new techniques i could use when developing my Miss Havisham character, i realised when doing makeup for film under the bright lights the
effect will always look like there is less makeup so i should always keep this in mind when shooting under bright lighting exaggerate the makeup to
stand out as you can see in the images below the light effects the intensity of the makeup.
