I had to pull in typical elements of the victorian hairstyles such as: waves, curls the very pulled forward front section to create a rounded shape and adding this into the french pleat design.
I initially took inspiration from one of my original designs as shown below using the finger wave like element i wanted to bring into create a very tight finger waved bouffant like structure. I began as shown below curling the hair into the sections i wanted the hair to sit and left to cool.
After brushing the hair out of the barrel curls i didn't have much time left to create the front design as i had spent a lot of time on the french pleat at the back of the head. I pinned loosely how i would have wanted the hair to sit. I didn't like the design from the profile view i though that there was too much separation between the french pleat and the design at the front they didn't integrate into one another, although the profile was not great i did like the effect from face on. The waves worked well creating a fringe like cover of hair over the forehead something i liked and would like to emphasis as i feel like could look effective in a silhouette shoot.
I would like to develop this further finding a way to incorporate the tight finger wave into the front of the hair using this to create a strong silhouette shape. I feel i need to do further research on victorian hairstyles to gain a better understanding of key elements they used when creating hairstyles.
