Estella Hair Practical

During this lesson we had to create the back of our Estella designs as i was still unsure of the creation of my design and how to put together all my ideas i sat down with seema and found a structure that i liked and could use my ideas on developing it to create my visualisation of Estella to intertwine hair, ribbon, bows and add a rag like element.
I liked the decretive style of this structure in the top left (image below), the folds reminded me of the formation of bows and create a very tight style something i imagined when thinking about the characterisation of Estella.
Above i began creating a structure i liked i loved the role technique rolling out of the pony tails although i would like to create a larger more intricate structure as my models hair is similar length to the dolls head i will used extension's clipped into the pony tail so i have more hair to work with i also wanted the roles to come around to the sides of the head rather than staying all in the centre line as i feel this is very similar to the formation of my miss Havisham design also i found turning some of the roles onto there sides added more depth something i need to focus on when creating a design for black and white photography.

Finger Wave:

Step 1: wet down the hair throughly and apply hair hair smoother to stop the hair tangling as you work.brush through with pin tail comb- make sure you have clips ready.

Step 2: brush hair back then place you middle finger to clamp down the hair, brush the hair in the opposite direction (forward) and clamp down with your front finger. repeat this over again until the amount of hair you want is waved once you've used both fingers replace with clips.

Step 3: leave to fully dry and remove clips- hair spray.

I liked this finger wave technique with my design and will experiment using it at the front i could further add a bow at the end to hid the extra hair although i feel for it to work together i will need to build up the back roles to create a bouffant type structure so the hair frames the face rather than looking like two separate structures. I like the idea of the hair being flat to the head at the front as its simple and more a style Estella should be wearing while the back symbolises her need to act more grown up than she is with a complicated up do.
