Scars & Wounds Practical

Step 1: When making the scars using gelatine you have to make sure that they are really powdered well to stop the gelatine sticking. This also means you can carefully ease out the form.

Step 2: Clean the area were the scar is to be applied using a toner is fine as it is alcohol based it takes the grease out of the skin so the scar wont slip off.
Using pros- aide a type of prosthetics glue to stick on the scar and pros-aide clean to remove it.

Step 3: once stuck making sure you use extra glue onto the edges so they don’t lift after a period of time, using a pure acetone melts the edges or water to blend edges into the skin and a palette knife to press down to firmly blend. Colour can then be added to create wounds or powder well to create a scar like effect.

I found this a very easy quick technique to create with, and can see how useful this can be when recreating a look. This could be a good technique to use in the character design of Claudia or Quentin to show evidence of self harm it adds a history to the character that is easy to read from an image.
